We are awaiting delivery of our Grandby flatbed. In the meantime, due to extraordinary reviews, we purchased the Froli spring system. Today we discovered that when you pull the bed out to king size that the pullout floor is above the stationary floor that the mattress sits on. Will the top slide under the Froli springs easily. We are thinking we may have to install a queen sized piece of 1/4” plywood, mount the springs on that, then lift it up slightly so the pull out will slide under it. Anyone with this system, how do you do it? Thanks! BTW, we’d be sleeping north to south and not bothering with the springs under our feet. Thanks for any responses.

We use the froli in a hawk flatbed. Love It! When we got to the point at which you now stand, we switched from north-south to east-west with no slide out. we leave the extra lumber at home and have enjoyed how much easier it makes it to make and break camp. If you are committed to north-south, I think you will need something akin to what you are picturing.

We have a Froli spring system I put it together in two sections. One section fits the overcab area with the bed slid in. The other section fits just the pullout area. The two sections butt up to each other when the bed is pulled out. All that written, we typically leave the bed pulled out.

We have room between the top of the mattress and the ceiling to put the Froli assembly on top of the mattress when the top is down but we cant leave our Slumberjack 30/40 sleeping bag in place if we do that. So that is why we usually leave the bed slid out so we can leave our pillows and the sleeping bag on top of the mattress and still close the top.

thanks for the responses. After sleeping on it I think my primary question is- when we slide the bed back down to queen size will the extension platform snag the Froli system on the way in and out. I’m thinking if I screw down the springs at the front corners and two more screws across the front that the pullout would slide right under them and out from under them without any problems. Then there would be no need for an additional 1/4” luan board. Then again- coming from the world of roof top tents, my wife is dead set against crawling over one another for the inevitable 2:00 AM winkie walk.
