FWC Eagle 2010 - Replacing roof skin

Hey FWC owners!

I’ve been dealing with some leaks this year — mainly when the roof is down — and I’m getting quite a bit of water pooling on the bed floor.

Today I noticed a crack in the roof skin (photo attached), and it looks like the silicone around the screws has also deteriorated.

My plan is to replace all the screws and re-seal with fresh silicone to stop the leak.

That said, has anyone here had experience removing the roof skin on a 2010 Eagle, or a similar model from that era? Any tips or gotchas would be much appreciated!

Marty and crew at ATC yes a good choice.

1: Clean and recaulk as needed for seams and screws. Avoid silicone based products as previously mentioned. 2: for a crack as shown I’d clean that area down to bare aluminum, drill a tiny hole in each end of the crack, fashion a aluminum flashing patch that overlaps by at least an inch and seal the patch using something like 3M 3500 sealant. Then cover patch with a white sealing tape like FlexSeal. 3: if that crack is near a roof latch…make sure it is adjusted properly. Over tight is not needed if the sealing gasket is good.

Great advice! thanks @FAW3 ! Sikaflex more common to come by over here in Oz. Good point about the crack near the roof latch - I'll double check as the upgraded mattress does require a bit more pressure to latch down the roof than previous.

Once I've fixed the crack and replaced all the screws and seals, I'm tempted to Tropi-cool the whole thing.

Are they doing one piece roofs? Last time I was at the factory (years ago) they were still doing the standard screw in roofs. Now, having said that, my screw in roof (maintence was a pain) never had any issues with tin-canning, etc.
ATC still uses the older style roof, and I believe it is the better method, regardless of the occasional preventive maintenance.
