Hi All,

Anyone replace the large passenger side window on their Hawk? Specifically I have a 2003 but I wouldn't think there would be a huge difference between the years. My Hawk has a black metal frame/trim piece around the window held in with screws 4" apart. I'm wondering if I take the trim piece off will the window pop out with some gentle persuasion or is it siliconed in or is it held in-between a rubber gasket or what?? I believe the whole window including the louvered part is all one piece but not positive. My window isn't broken or cracked but I'm wanting to swap it with another one that I have.

Thanks !!

There are at least a couple types of windows.

On my '04 there are no visible screws holding the inside trim ring. The screws around the window frame outside are removed, then the window . The seal was a sticky foam tape the required a bit of prying to release, but sticking way more to the window than the siding. After the window was removed, the staples holding the inside ring were apparent. There were a few screws holding the curtain rod above the window that also had to come out to release the inside trim ring.

There is an earlier version that has screws visible on the inside trim ring around the window, I'm not sure of the removal order on those.

So if I just want to remove the glass I just need to remove the outside trim ring and I'd be able to pry the glass free?

Yes.

Just to make sure we're on the same page, The "Glass" and "Outside Trim Ring" are an assembly removed as such. Pull those screws and pry a bit on the ring.

If your replacement window is from a different manufacturer or style you might need to also change the internal trim ring to make stuff fit properly.

I replaced the external #8 screws with #10 to get a good bite on the threads as some stripped when I reinstalled the window. This probably was due to with my choice of a new seal, 3/16" thick butyl tape rather than the original foam stuff (~1/8").

Thanks a lot - I'm swapping windows on my 2003 and 2005 Hawk. I'll measure each carefully before I remove them and hope they're the same.

Not sure if this is allowed, but I'm going to bring this one back from the dead - Mods let me know if I need to start a new thread.

Just bought a 2006 Hawk, and considering swapping in a slider window instead of the louvered type. Do we measure the hole, or the outside frame?

It’s fine to resurrect an older, on topic post. I believe you measure by the hole size, but I’m not 100% certain. My guess is a conversation with Professor Google will lead to the answer.
