How do you remove just the slide on the passenger side of a HEco lift system, by slide, I mean the aluminum piece that runs on the track and raises the roof when cranked. Do you have to remove the whole track unit, or can you just remove the slide. I would like to either replace it, have my local guy weld center piece back in or mod it with washers and bolts. If I do replace it with a new one, does it have to be the exact same length? Mine is 10.25" and the one I have found is 9". PLEASE HELP

I have searched for days and can't find any info on how to remove / repair/ replace the Heco Slide. The "brace" that raises the passenger side roof, has pulled out of the slide hole. I can take the screw out and put it back in, but it keeps coming out and that side of the roof comes crashing down.

Here is a pic of a new slide and pic of my damaged slide.

Yes, that is in reference to the tortion bar, my question is how to remove and repair/replace just one of the slides. Nothing seems to be holding them in place except the 4 roller things, but I tried to move them to the side and they didn't budge. I don't want to just pry it off as it might damage something even more. I figured someone on here has done it before. My fear is that you have to remove the whole crank / slide system :(

check these out, says there are a few options to choose from and to select when ordering.
and a lil diagram for future reference. I pretty much had to rebuild the whole system on mine

I saw that, but I need to know how to remove the damaged slide only. does it pry off, do you have to work the 4 spacers out, or do you have to remove the whole track system?

unfortunately you do, its a good time to inspect the gear housing and the gear racks and lube everything with a dry lube, dry lube is the key as grease and whatnot will have crud sticking to it. its best if you can get in there and do it with the top lowered, I know that isnt always an option

I appreciate your help, but I am not sure you are correct on having to remove the whole track system. The only thing holding the 10" x 4" slide on the track are the 4 spacers. the pin in the hole is connected to the "chain" not the slide. It just seems logical that you can either pry it off, or tap the slides out with a hammer and screwdriver. I have looked at the new slide in the picture and the spacers are free floating and held on by friction/ pressure.

quite possibly. I had to replace the rail, the drivers side rack gear and the gear housing so mine was coming apart no matter what. I think its possible but you might be making it harder than it has to be

Ok, figured it out. actually pretty easy to get off. Wile the roof is raised and braced, Unhook the slider piece you want to take off from the arm. Then remove the crank piece in the middle of the track. Take off the two bolts holding the middle piece crank thing, under the bed while hold the front with a star bit. There are two wide notches that the spacers can be taken out and the piece can be easliy removed.

I tried bolting a nut with a washer on, but there is Zero clearance between the track and the Slide piece. It will chop up my plastic brittle track. I even tried to grind down the bolt but even the washer was catching on the track. My only other options are , buying a new piece or having a local guy weld the center piece back in. I will keep you posted ;) Thanks for trying all.
