Lots of Ram/Cummins owners in this thread. I'll add Big Blue, my 2003 Ram 2500 with a 5.9 Cummins. "Only" 225k-ish miles. I've owned it for about 13 years and ~100k, lots of exploring everywhere from Utah to the PNW. We had a little Roamin Chariot pop-up on there the last couple years, now upgraded to a new ATC Panther. Hoping we get lots more miles and smiles out of this rig.
A great idea if you live anywhere but California. Can be done here, but to me just not worth the hassle, so will be fixing what I haveswap in the bigger V6?
Thanks for the offer, but unfortunately I’d never get any work out of you because you’d be too busy bagging peaks at the state park down the street from usIf Tom lived closer, I'd help.
I only bought mine a year ago. I did see on the CarFax report it had a new automatic transmission at only 20,000 miles (under warranty). My guy who has been looking after my truck told me, if you keep this rig long enough you will put in a new transmission, and if you keep it even longer you'll put in another transmission after that! So I've been warned......Think I know what my next truck is gonna be.
Just curious if any of these rams have had any major work done to them. The tundra at 227k has had a belt tensioner, a belt, and a fan clutch.
My '03 got the transmission rebuilt right around 200k miles. The 48re automatic is a known weak point for the third gen Ram trucks, and not sure how much better the 68re is in the next gen. My only regret with this truck is not spending the time to find a manual when I initially purchased it. Otherwise I've mostly replaced minor stuff commensurate with 20+ years of use - batteries, power steering pump, belt tensioner, brakes. I have a brand new full suspension setup sitting in my shop waiting for an install...just need to stop adventuring for a weekend or two!Think I know what my next truck is gonna be.

Lol ya never realize it until you've gone without it for a bit. When I added the weight I swapped to a flex fan. The fins straighten out at high rpm to reduce drag on the engine.I just got my fan clutch replaced. Easy to tell its working now. Dang thing is noisy! Hopefully that means my transmission is just fine.
