In anticipation of a month long ski/road trip, I decided I was going to make my own thermal pack instead of spending the $1,400 for a new one. For reference- I am an experienced (although self taught and definitely not an expert) sewer and enjoy making usable things like this.
My main goal was to make the camper cozier and have a barrier between the cold condensation on the vinyl.
I used quilts to make these. I know cotton isn’t the most techy/warmest of materials, but I can wash these easily, sewing it was fairly simple, and you can easily find a cute quilt to fit your vibe!
This cost me about $175 in materials including 2 queen sized quilts, lots of Velcro, and more thread than I have ever used on a single project.
I have only had the camper for about a month, and it was in the shop for various reasons leading up to this trip, so I was really on a time crunch making this. I got it done just in time. It’s definitely not perfect but it’s significantly better than nothing, and I can leave it up while raising/lowering the camper. I couldn’t seem to keep my dog Archie off it the entire time I was making it.
Merry Christmas and maybe this will inspire someone to make their own!
