how do you level your rig when you camp?

I use bubble levels mounted one next to me on the side piller and one on the back wall. So when I'm parking I can see if I'm level enough. I'm a little more concerned with front and back level for the refridge.

I don't have much room to bring level blocks so I get creative as how I park and use a rock or? to level off. I do have friends with the block cubes and it works good for them.

level

I have used wood sticks that I found around the camp site. Have brought some 2x4's along for the same purpose.

Various camping stores sell the wedge type blocks that I understand work well also.

I have some of the plastic blocks they sell, but most of the time I can get level enough just moving around a bit. I actually prefer to get a little bit to one side. I like sleeping slightly downhill.

An assortment of 2x2's and 4x4's cut to about 1 foot length. Most of the time it's level enough or there are a few rocks around. No refer for me so I don't need perfect leveling. I use ice chests, which make great chairs when they are closed.

leveling...

I have a couple of leveling blocks that I made from plywood and 2"x6"s. I used sheetrock screws to sandwich the 2x6s between the 3/8" plywood, cut an angle on one end and screwed in a screendoor handle on the other.
I store them on my rear rack and lock them on with a cable thru the handles....keeps them from disappearing and holds them in place while bouncing around. I never need more than the two blocks...under the front, rear or side tires. In the cab I have an aftermarket leveling instrument from a jeep, however something hanging from the rear view mirror seems to work as well....when it is hanging straight down, the rig is level. That along with my wife guiding from outside, we get it pretty right-on. Like Hayduke, we use an icechest so just comfort in bed is the only issue.

hmmm a plumb bob from the rear view mirror...that is a good idea.
i was thinking about putting a surface mount bubble level in the cab somewhere...i have a f250 and have not yet identified a good place for it due to carpet, curved surfaces etc.

Brian, those boxes on your rear carrier are cool. Did you make them or can you buy them? I have one of those carriers too. I ordered a rising hitch extension that brings the level of the carrier up about 5 inches so as not to drag my ass end on steep angles of approach/departure. Anyways, I gotta have some of them boxes. Thanks for the pics

Boxes.....

Hayduke....
You are right about the ammo box and the other one is a steel box that I picked up somewhere...can't remember where although it was probably at a yard sale or secondhand store.
I actually made the rack fit the depth of the box on the left by hacksawing and telescoping the two halves together then drilling and bolting them up. I did some engineering to get the rack up a couple of inches for the very same reason you did. I wanted it as small as I could get it and still fit the few things I wanted back there.
