I have received so much info from this forum I figured it was worth paying it back. I have 0 electrical skills but everyone here helped me.
I have a Hawk shell model with side dinette, furnace and cook stove. It’s sitting on a 2017 Tundra Limited with heavy front and rear OME suspension.
Camper lives on the truck, and the suspension is OME heavy all the way around. It drives super well…. Over 75k with the camper on as I use it for work.
Here are the guts of the upgrade, I originally had the 2 6V AGM batteries and the 160W overland solar panel from the factory.
Install:
2 - battle born GV2 style smart heated batteries- no shunt needed
1 - Orion XS 50. So much smaller than previous versions
1 - Bluetooth dongle to go with overland solar MPPT charge controller
2 - 125W overland solar panels
1 - 50 AMP Victron solar controller
* lots of time and energy not to rip the whole cabinet apart
This is the best thread to start with: FWC Electrical basics and upgrading to lithium!
This thread is the go to for dummies and very realistic.
I also bugged a number of guys on this forum who were willing to actually have a phone call, which I appreciate so much !
If anyone has looked at how FWC is approaching Starlink it’s awful…. They are not taking advantage of a waterproof 12V plug OR that FWC users might want to use in motion.
Here is the link for the starlink port: https://www.etsy.com/listing/181910...MIpJ2Bp8b3jQMVLSBECB1q-hXeEAQYAyABEgJ89fD_BwE
Now to internet in motion, I have been getting at least 150MPS in most of rural Montana. Here is the mount I am using. Starlink Mini Quick Release Mount
I was skeptical about this mont when i first got it; but solid as a rock. Consistently working
YUP 6ft cable for in motion use, I do swap out at camp if needed.
FWC rolled out a bad product not adopting waterproof connections!
I am not great at write up’s but hope that I contribute what i took in from the community.
Thanks Everyone!
