I want to build a truck slide in camper dolly so I can move my camper in and out of my garage.. It would be on a cement drive way. Since my camper is lite, (1630 Lbs) I’m thinking of using 5 inch caster wheels Amazon 5Inch Caster Wheels (Set of 4), Heavy Duty Casters with Brake 2400 Lbs,Locking Casters Wheels for Furniture, Castor Wheels for Cart, And making the frame out of 2 x 6 x 8 ft Lumber in a latter type configuration. It would only sit about a little over a foot off of the floor. Is this doable and is the caster wheels I’m looking at on Amazon good enough for the weight of the camper.

should be good, unless you have rough concrete in places? Funny, the image of those caster wheels clearly shows bearings, but nowhere does it say that they swivel. I only have swiveling wheels on one end of my dolly. I still debate if that's better or worse than having both ends swivel. Are you going to moving it by yourself? Then likely just one end swiveling will be better, otherwise "steering" can get interesting.

Mel, I think you would be better off with a larger caster. It reduces the amount jack travel. I did go with 8”x2” swivel casters on both ends, so I can easily move it sideways.

Same here. We have 5" but wish they were a little bigger. Our camper isn't quite as heavy, maybe 1100 lbs. But it rolls ok on level terrain. We have a slight hill on our driveway. But we're living with the 5".

One issue is the swivels. They tend to rotate to 90°, which renders them stuck. So I'm glad we only have two swivels. Maybe larger diameter wheels would help that?

If I could do it again I would have just bought the harbor freight trailer, and still may. Rolling the camper in the garage is heavy, for me personally

By the way, I spent as much in lumber as I would have on the trailer, HF had a deal on the trailers at the time.
