While sharing my plans for a camper with some relatives over the holidays, one asked an insteresting question for which I have no idea what the answer is. Since we often camp out in the open, the truck/camper will be the highest thing around. Should a thunderstorm roll in, it would not be unreasonable for the truck/camper to be the target of lighting. I've never heard of anyone getting hurt in such a situation, but I don't know why. Does anyone know why it would be safe? Or not? Happy New Year everyone.

Have you ever heard or been told "if a powerline lands on your vehicle DON'T get out!" Same principal. The electricty flows to the ground through the vehicle out the tires. When you are the "Ground," that is where your feet contact the earth, you will get hurt.

lightning

If it helps make you feel any better, in my years with Four Wheel I have never heard of lightning striking a camper. Of course that doesn't mean it never has, I have just never heard a story about it happening. I have heard a lot of great stories over the years and seen some great photos but that is still one that has not made it on the books yet.

Not to worry though, if you are the first, we can fix anything that you create.:):)

Sincerely,

Ben
