HI everyone,
I have a porch and awning outside light on my 2012 Hawk. Has anyone wired a interior switch to turn these lights on and off, maybe two switches, one by the bed and back exit door. As it is now, one needs to step outside to turn these lights on.
Thank you in advance for your input and advise.

Both switches would need to be of the dual throw type (with one or more poles) in order for this to work. The switch on the fixture, if anything like the one on our Phoenix, isn't a dual throw type and wouldn't work.

You could put a switch in parallel with the fixture's switch, but then neither could turn the light off if the other turned it on. Both would have to be off for the light to be off.

Or you could put them in series, but then while either would turn the light off, both would have to be on for the light to come on.

Hi,

Thank you for your info. Still looking into my project. I hope I can get this figured out...how nice it would be turn on my outside lights without getting out of bed.

My ATC Bobcat has a switch just inside the door that turns both on / off, etc. You could run two separate switches independently from a power source. As far as having two switches for each, you may be able to wire it like a house 3 way.

Thanks to all your responses...still working on this. Does anybody know if the FWC 2012 Hawk is prewired for flood lights? If so, I could hook a light using the floodlight wires to the outside and aI would ssume there would be a wire to hook up a switch inside?

The ATC people add an inside switch. Not only is it handy to turn the outside light on from inside but by having the extra switch inside keeps someone from turning your outside light on,for whatever reason, while you are not around, and possibly draining your battery.
We find the inside switch very handy during those dark times you need to leave the camper.
The switch is very handily located just inside the door under the fridge/icebox area.
As another source of info check with Marty at ATC to ask how they wire in the switch.
Good luck.

Frank,

...thank you for your info. What you state in your response are the reasons I want a interior control switch. security and convenience. I think I can keep the porch and awning light with their "clear" lens update with LED I did last week to brighten things up at night. The lens and LED bulb made a huge improvement. Just need to wire a switch to each outside light. I'll contact Marty soon.

Thanks again.

Michael
