Campground Host- FUNKYTOWN
I bet yer already wonderin' where this thread is going...huh?
After years of grabbing a plastic peice-of-junk flashlight and wondering if it would actually work, I started a seach a few weeks ago for something that has some sturdiness to it and yes...offers blinding light to boot.
I bought the wife a Fenix TK-30 "Tactical". She wanted something with a good feel and something that she could use for defense, if needed, as well as something that lit the way well. This unit weighs about a 1/2 pound and is about 8.5 inches long. It feels very nice in your hand, and the curvy/wavy ring around the head of the light would hurt like hell if you were on the wrong end of a "kiss".
I bought myself a TK-40....supposedly the brightest AA flashlight on the market. It too, has a very solid/nice feel in your hand....but the real draw here is the extremely powerful LED beam of light this thing produces. WOW. You DON'T want this thing shining in your face! 640 lumens....totally blinding!
It has 4 modes//intensities...and each brightness/setting has its own strobe function.
Along with the flashlights, I bought rechargeable batteries and chargers for each unit. (of course, I couldn't find 2 models I wanted with the SAME type of batteries in 'em) LOL.
I also looked at O-Light, Surefire, and Mag-Lite. All of which have some very nice units in their product lines.
Hopefully these will serve us well for quite awhile.
