This morning I got a text from my neighbor, he had been plowing a road for other neighbors, and got too close to the edge of a pretty deep irrigation ditch. The back left tire of his John Deere 640 had slid a couple of feet down the bank, and the tractor was ready to roll onto its side.
We positioned and dug in his tracked excavator above the road, rigged a bridle to the side of the tractor, and through a double snatch block to the winch on his farm truck.
We had to reposition the excavator boom once, but easily drove the tractor out, with the bridle keeping it from sliding. It was a good learning experience for me.
