Has anybody used the folding Mule Awning brackets (designed for FWC) on an ATC?

I'm contemplating putting my compact Rhino Rack batwing 270 awning onto my Ocelot.

The adjustable top ~9" of the bracket allow the awning to be tipped down to access the roof latches on the camper.

The Mule brackets, jack brackets, and awning bracket are all robust. But still that adds ~40lbs high on the camper...

Good Idea or Bad?

on my ocelot (since sold) i used non folding mule brkts for awning attachment. we relocated one of the top roof latches, and worked great. i dont remember what the brkts weighed, but not too much.

That's good to hear. I think I'd need to relocate both roof latches on the side though. Were your latches in a similar position as these, if you recall? It looks like the forward brkt would hit right at the front latch, but maybe there would be enough room to leave that one as is?

not the best pic. but with awning deployed, u can see the front side latch. it was moved a bit forward to clear the awning. rear latch was moved to rear back corner. they all worked fine. that awning was great. on this morning it was wet from dew and evening shower. sun am out in the morning and truck was still in shade. i folded pole up, and slowly drove truck into sun. awning dried up, and i stowed it away all dry. go.

Hi goinoregon,
Helpful photo and input! You mentioned this was with the non-folding MULE awning brackets. What type/size of awing is this?
Thanks!

I just noticed that you took your pop-up window down from the top instead of up from the bottom. Did the awning interfere with that?

Note that the folding brackets wont sit high enough for the 270 to clear the door unless you only use two bolts through the jack brackets and raise it up. I assume that the purpose built AluCab ones are taller.

Also looks like he has the he square storm flaps that attach or detach on all sides.

I put them in my ATC Panther to attach an Alucab 270 awning a few months ago, no complaints. Was concerned about snags while bushwhacking but put it through its paces on a 4 week trip through CO/UT/WY/MT/ID with no issues.

As a side note, when I had camper built I had the clamps mounted forward and on the rear to accommodate a future awning, so no experience moving them. Also, brackets were specifically for the Alucab so no door clearance issues.

That is a nice looking set-up, Sunman. I'll reach out to ATC and ask what is involved with moving the roof clamps. If I were starting from scratch, I'd look at AluCab however I already have two rhino rack 270 awnings so hopefully I can figure out a way to accommodate one.

it was the alucab. whatever one wraps around the back, over the door.

The rhino rack batwing 270 also wrap around the back, just not certain about door clearance. I will do more investigating and compare the RR stats to the Alucab. Many thanks.
