Taking a road trip from SoCal to St. George, Utah, this June. Does anybody have any tips for attractions around St. George (other than Zion). Also, the last time I was there I was attacked by mosquitoes. Any pet repellent tips? Thanks!

There is a BLM regional office in St George. I suggest stopping there for leaflets on hikes in the area.

Quail Creek and Sand Hollow SP have good campgrounds on the east side of town. I've stayed at both and found them to be nice if you are in for watersports otherwise expect a lot of noise during the day.
Snow Canyon is on the west side. I have not been there yet but appears better for hiking based on the Utah State Parks website. Pipe Springs NM is a bit of a drive but within driving distance as is Pink Coral Sands SP. Same for Cedar Breaks up north. South of St George is Parashant NM that has a road that will take you right up to the edge of the Grand Canyon.

We use a Thermacell for the skeeters. It actually does a surprisingly good job at holding the blood suckers at bay! Our trip to Utah was the driving force for trying it. I grew up in the mid west and thought we had bugs. Utah had more skeets then I have ever seen!

In addition to a Thermacell, consider a rechargeable bug zapper to put in the camper a few minutes before bed. They’re about $20 on Amazon.

I can't guarantee how well it would work when the mozzies are thick and fierce, but a citronella candle is a nice addition to a camping kit. If you search on 'citronella candle' you will find many makes, sizes, including ones that come in a lidded container.
