I know many of your bemoan the lack of a midsize diesel truck in the US. It looks like your moans are being answered:

The only question is when will it show up. My guess is late 2012. I don't think I can fit my Grandby on it though.

I read it as saying the there will most likely be no diesel in the US, just for the Asia market.

Chevrolet provided no details about the Colorado Rally concept save that it is powered by one of GM's new turbodiesel four-cylinder engines. Diesel power is one factor that could vastly improve the fuel-economy portion of midsize pickups' current problem, but diesel-engine cost makes the new diesel engine family an unlikely option for U.S. consumption, although GM has found a way to make the new diesel engine family cost-effective for the Asia-market Colorado.

Unless they make a long bed version I think you're right stan. How do they know a diesel won't sell? Would it kill them to try?

The problem is making the diesel work within the US air pollution regulations. So it becomes prohibitively expensive to have a (new) diesel engine in the US.

I read on another site that it will be a 2.3 and 2.8 liter Duramax. I know that'll just be a borrowing of the Duramax name, but maybe that indicates a desire to sell in the US.
