About 6 months ago installed an Engel in the rear of the truck cab and after using it for several trips decided to remove the Dometric 3 way and convert the space to storage.
I insulated the space, paneled the sides, and sealed it from the outside. I left the old fridge door on the outside and use the small 4" outside space to hold electrical cords.
I used a piece of cargo net to secure the load.
I just got back from over 400 miles off road on the Arizona strip on some very rough roads and everything worked fine.
I had the propane detector go off when I set up camp one night, first time it has ever alarmed. Checked and there was a loose fitting at the tank. I couldn't smell any propane, the detector is that sensitive, nice to know it works.
To cut down on the dust in the camper I learned on this trip is to cover the inside vents for the furnace when driving on dusty roads. I used duct tape but will get some self stick magnet material and make something easier to remove. I may also try and make something to cover the outside vents to cut down on the dust in the furnace, must have blown out a pound when I got back to town.

dsrtrat,

Looks great. Did you do this specifically to create more storage in the camper or were there other reasons for the fridge in the cab? Just curious.

Space

I would have put the fridge in the camper but the 45Qt Engel wouldn't fit in the space of the old fridge and still be able to open the fridge door with the camper down.
I find I am in the fridge more when I am driving for rest stops and wanted to be able to access it quickly. I do most of my cooking outside and it is just easy to pull stuff from the fridge with it in the truck.

The fridge is installed on a slide lock so I can pull it out and lock it in the camper if I leave the truck at a trailhead. I use a cam strap on both front and rear of the fridge just in case of a rollover.

I usually travel with max of one other person and still have the smaller seat installed on the rear passenger side if needed. No dogs or kids so it works for me.

The extra storage was a plus, the action packer holds dry goods and food, easy to pull and bring outside at camp.
I installed 120 and 12 volt outlets in the outside space so I have a power outlet if needed on the outside of the camper.
