FWC debuted a new slide in camper model today called the CampOut. Modular interior concept and new features on the exterior. Pretty neat. Very modern.

Not for my tastes or style but if you look at the explosion of the "overlanding" segment of the market, they were forced to do something or be left behind. I am glad they are responding to the market in order to be able to continue innovating as it will only help the overall truck camper market.
I love my Hawk and everything about it. The whole modular design concept will appeal to a lot of the overlanding crowd, which I would guess is primarily in the 40 and under demographic.

I like a lot of what I see. I would think a handy person could easily set up a modular system in a shell at a considerably lower cost. It has potential for folks who want instant "done".

I wonder if the weight goes up with this concept. It should make assembling campers a lot quicker for 4WC.

That’s been my concept from the beginning, that’s why I bought a Hawk Shell. All the way down to the battery operated faucet. But a $10 one not the $100 Dometic. And a collapsible sink, not a fixed one. It works so well and is so inexpensive I just rigged one for an outside sink and faucet for doing dishes and washing hands. Refrigerator and all easily stashes in the garage after the trip so the camper goes back to its light weight self. What are you supposed to do with the cubes when you take them out?

I suspect most folks will leave all the modules in all the time. Or take out what they don't like and store them all the time. But I'm not a snowboarder or many of the other activities shown in the video.

Building a CampOut and Hawk to similar spec shows roughly the same weight and cost. Ultimately, at a cost, the Hawk can be built to a higher spec (Truma AquaGo hot water, 20 gal fresh water, Redarc Manager30, 3 LiFePO batteries).

For me, the integrated Hawk makes more sense than the modular CampOut. But I can see the appeal of the CampOut.

BTW, the current standard build for the Hawk includes the external AC, USB/USBC and Starlink Mini ports. No more corrugated siding though!

Glad to see FWC has recognized some folks have a desire to mount some things outside the camper, something they are also addressed on the Orvis version. Honestly, if I worked at FWC, I would place the Molle panel on the rear wall where larger items, like a jerry can, could mount.

one could also add the L-track to an existing camper if desired. I wonder if (or how much) they beefed up the structure to support those tracks.

If you watch the more recent videos that FWC puts out on YT and who they "sponsor" so to speak, it is easy to see what market they are targeting to penetrate and satisfy. It is definitely not the traditional truck camper crowd.

I have a bobcat shell, but this is exactly what I was looking for 5 years ago when I started looking into Pop-ups. After building out my camp-out online, I was shocked at how high the price got for being a “simple build”.

I think this will be a very popular option and I am happy to see a new idea Popup.
