New hot water bypass valves and drain

My 2009 Hawk looks like it has the hot water bypass valves and low water drain that FWC is installing in newer units that have the the new aluminum hot water heater.

I want to learn how to winterize and not fill the hot water heater when the weather might get below freezing. The instruction manual that came with the Hawk doesn't explain how to do this.
