I just want to say hi to everyone. I just purchased a k5 with a 4wc. I do not intend to go hog wild on a rebuild for a while. I will probably use it for a couple years to see if I want to "redecorate". I drove it home to Michigan from Omaha. I am replacing the front lift panel, repairing the vinyl, and a couple things to do mechanically.
Watching a few projects was interesting and insightful. My lift panel delaminated and detached from the spring loaded piano hinge. The piececes of wood scratched some holes in the vinyl. I cleaned it up and used a strip of clear vinyl from the fabric store and spray adhesive to patch it. It is on the inside and you won't see it when I am done.
I am going to have to fold the spring 90 degees and tape or tie it place to install. Anyone done this and have tips to share?
I am also interested in a spare tire rack for the rear. It is presently mounted in front of the radiator. I was thinking of maybe grabbing one from the boneyard and modifing it. Any Ideas?
I tried to post a photo on another topic board, but it did not work. I will resize and try here.

jmodge, I like the short turning radius of the Blazer. Plus you drove your Blazer from Omaha to Michigan, don't you enjoy just driving the truck, I sure do. Always adds to the adventure when your driving an older truck when you first get it. It takes awhile to get to know the vehicle.

Hope you enjoy your rig as much as I do mine.

Hmm,

I thought I posted a reply here, sorry.

I have some ideas for the hinge, finding time is the hardest part

Yeah, I do like it, I have owned several old Blazers and Suburbans. This Is a unique rig, and I would like to salute the man who came up with this set up.
