Tomorrow we head to Chobe River at Kasane, Botswana.

Yesterday evening heading back to the lodge, prop hit something and sheared the key on the propeller. Got towed in by a tour boat.

Today we used the second boat while a mechanic took the bottom end off the outboard. Says there is more damage inside and has to be shipped off for further repairs . We still have one boat.
This afternoon game drive float we went by the other boat to see progress. Driver went into neutral and then foward.. . Nothing???
Guide asked me what's going on. I said raise the motor out of the water look at the propeller. GONE! Yup it slide off the shaf into the water. Called mechanic, brought a new propeller set up and got it shorted out temporarily until tomorrow afternoon.
Thank goodness we were at a excellent location and not out on the river!

Eeeeeek! Not good! I don’t see ? a cotter pin on the castle nut. If the mechanic leaves it off, there could be another lost prop.
Stay safe, keep the photos coming, they’re much enjoyed!?
Edit: That’s not a castle nut, there is no way to secure the prop and thrust washer. Make sure there are paddles for every passenger.?
