Always turn to you guys when questions are to be asked .......

When I use my larger inverter (I think it's 2,000 watt used for my microwave) for smaller devices (say a computer) does it use more power from on-board batteries (drain the batteries faster)than say, a smaller inverter that just plugs into the 12 volt lighter.

Yes. The inverter itself consumes power and the larger they are, the more it uses. I have done some load testing between a 300 watt and an 800 watt to run my Sat. dish and TV. Almost an amp more using the 800.

An inverter should really be sized to match the load you want to power.

Thank you for that .......... I was going to hook up my TV to the outside of the camper but my hook-up is to the large watt inverter. Guess I could just run a extension to a smaller unit plugged into the lighter in the cab.

Thanks again.
