Propane Leak Safety Test

I know that I could take it to an RV shop but I'd like to know how you test the connections to see if you're propane system is fully sealed and safe. I had to disconnect my cooktop stove and remove it momentarily today and now after I re-installed it I want to check for leaks. I have a propane detector and I don't smell any propane in the cabin but I have to be certain 100%. How do you use the leak detectiong solutions or soap and water on the connections? Can you use it on all the connections effectively?

A soapy water solution will work, though I have found that the commercially available gas leak solution (soap) does work better. Apply the solution around all connections, turn on the gas and wait. If you see bubbles forming then it's a leak.

A pressure test can also be done with air and a pressure gauge, but I don't know the specs/procedure for RV testing.

Of course if you have any doubt about your skill or knowledge of LPG, take it to a professional.

Propane Leaks

We check ours with a propane sniffer. The soap and water trick will work also. If you don't smell anything after it has been left on for a few hours, chances are you should be ok. If in doubt though, take it to any RV shop in your area and they should have the equipment to test it for you.

sniffer

I have no idea what the brand of the sniffer is. We purchased it from Leran Gas Products.
