This past weekend some "nice person" decided that they needed more than I the small black propane cover and harness that was attached to my 5lb exterior propane tank. I won't ever understand the human condition. That said...

This week I was search Amazon for a replacement cover. Not finding one I particularly liked, I headed down to Ace hardware.

The Store manager and I discussed my situation and he suggested a 1" pcv cap. Although it looked like it would fit, the threads were off. He simply - almost nonchalantly - said, "Well... Heat it up."

And thats what I did. ~1 min later using a heat gun and, voila! an $.88 cap is born.

Oh, and... The Seattle Sports 2gal bag is a PERFECT fit for your 5lb propane tank,.

Great solutions. I appreciate folks who find a way to accomplish something when most just give up! Well done.

Wow, rereading my above post I can honestly say that one shouldn't friends post when drinking eggnog...

Great idea, I ran down to the local hardware store in Ellensburg and did the same thing. Works wonderful and thanks for the tip.

I *believe* it was called a "2 gal water tote". I'll grab info off of the bag tomorrow when I'm at the shop.

Update: Unfortunately, the bag didn't have tags nor anything to identify it beyond the Seattle Sports emblem. I've sent a request to them (and a pic!). I'll let y0ou know if they respond with specs.
