Replacement '19 HAWK sink faucet

I have the cheapo version of the kitchen OEM faucet, a "Whale" brand white plastic two handles and one short spigot that we find difficult to use because of the two control handles (pictured).

This oddball design mounts from the top with 4 screws in a plate. weird. I'm having no luck finding any kind of direct upgrade (we like a longer spout and one control handle).

Which also makes me want to change the entire sink to the round, flush mounted, glass covered sink with it's bitchin' fold up and out spout and one handle operation. But I don't know where to start as this would mean replacing the top deck counter on the driver's side cabinet.

Questions:

1. does anyone know of a replacement faucet that mounts to the top? Or will I be forced to make a new mounting plate and use any off-the-shelf faucet?

2. How hard is it disassemble the driver's side kitchen cabinet (to replace the top counter) on a '19 HAWK? I see a row on the vertical front facing screws top and bottom on the front of the cabinet, but would like any info on what is involved in disassembling.

I can reach out to FWC but was going to throw the Qs out to the family here to see if anyone's tackled upgrading from the square to the round sink via new countertop. Or could I could get a cabinet shop to make a raised new counter just for the new round sink and add that to the top of the existing countertop that has at present only the square sink/4" flush mount faucet?

Thanks for reading. BigRanch

I too would like a faucet with more reach and one water controller to replace the Whale.

Some years back there were postings showing the replacement. Might try with a search, even try Google.

I ended up shelling out the money for the Dometic ac542. I am not sure if it fits your needs, but it is a fantastic change from the whale. The aerator makes the water flow much more effective at rinsing and the reach and flex of the faucet is outstanding. There are similar looking faucets on amazon for a lot less, but I opted for this. Happy.

Thank you both. Yes, the Dometic ac542 looks like an upgrade. I think I will try it!

and an update...the older plastic sink was only loose, not leaking, so my bad for not properly scoping the issue. I tightened it up and tested, works fine. But now I still want an upgrade eventually, there's just not panic.

I'll be forced to make a new plate (learned a new word BTW, these are called an "escutcheon"), probably out of aluminum, mount the new facet to the plate, and then mount the plate to the cabinet.
Let the construction commence!

(I will update this thread when I build out the new faucet)

Update 10/19/25

I fell in love with the Dometic DM-W02, but it's only available overseas and they won't ship to the USA  Check mate, but...

BUT I'm going to NZ (on a lark bc our once-in-a-lifetime trip was planned a while ago) and so I ordered one and will pick it up in Aukland in Nov. I'll update the install next spring when I get around to conjuring up an escutcheon plate to make this new faucet work.

Hope I caught you in time but here’s my 2cents worth. The OG “White” brand made in England is junk! Way too many o rings to fail and fully plastic… plus where in the heck are you going to find British replacement parts here in America….yuk.
What serves me quite well can be obtained from any restaurant supply store or a good plumbing store, is known as a bar sink faucet and they come in any outreach length. Not to mention all brass and any parts could be found at any hardware store.
Hope this helps!! Cheers Fred
