Just finished mounting my shower enclosure and awning. I did not want to have the washers and nuts inside because of the bed slide out. I also wanted to have a gap between camper and awning so debris wouldn't build up. I made some standoffs out of 1 1/2 '' x 1'' aluminum tube and used 4200 and 1/4'' aluminum rivets with 1/2'' heads to attach to the camper. I drilled wholes big enough for the head of my rivet gun to fit. I put the mounting bolts and nylock nuts in before mounting to the camper. Then I had to slide the awnings on sideways. The hardest part was tightening the nuts with limited space to work inside the aluminum square tubing. I ground down an old 10mm wrench and got it done. I have had success over the years using rivets in many marine applications with good results. The awning is the heavier of the two items I mounted and it only weighs 24lbs. We shall see how this method holds up.
