I put some small scratches through the paint on the roof today while putting on my load bars for my Thule case. Is this going to be a problem? Should I hit them with a little touch up paint? I know that aluminum oxidizes when exposed but is anyone doing anything to their roof besides washing it, don't think you could wax the monster

paint

You can use some touch up paint and it will work fine. I took a small piece of siding to Home Depot awhile back and had some paint made for touch up. It worked great.

DO NOT try to wax the camper. It is almost impossible to get all the wax out of the little dimples in the skin. Stan told me about a product called Protect All awhile back and it seems to work ok. I tried it out on the camper I took to Florida a couple of weeks ago on the front. The bugs just wiped off. I didn't have to scrub half as much as I usually do for a trip that long to clean off the bugs. Stan claims that if you use it on the camper over all it will keep it looking new for years.

Here is a link so that you can see what it is. You can find it at Wal Mart in the small RV section that is hidden in the Automotive section of the store.

Hey 5Speed

Sure, if you want to touch up those scratches, it can't hurt.

The best match I have seen for paint color is a product right off the shelf.

Just go to any hardware store and get a very small can of Rust-Oleum Glossy White Paint and a small touch up paint brush.

If you have a new camper that has the white aluminum sides and white aluminum roof skin, the Glossy White Rust-Oleum paint should be a perfect match ! (no need for a custom blended color).

Most stores I have been to don't have the Rust-Oleum touch up bottles with applicator, but if you can find one of those it might be even better and cost you less.

Protect All

Stan put the link up to the exact product for you. That was the same one that I used for the trip and it worked great.

Rustoleum...

Definately the GLOSS white rustoleum, not FLAT.I bought a can of the FLAT white the other day and set about painting rusted roof screws. The flat really stands apart from the rest of the camper:( and looks a little funky. I am now on the hunt for the touch up can of GLOSS..(and a spray can)

Thats what I get for not consulting the wealth of this board.
