For those of you that camp in your FWC in the snow over the Winter months, what tool have you found best for removing snow from the roof when needed that is easy to store and transport? Txs!
I bought one of those from my local Honda dealer about 7 years ago and it has held up very well. I had taken my wife's car in for service and saw it in the Parts Department. I don't know if they normally sell them or just decided to sell their extras that year.Go to one of your local car dealerships and ask them where they get their devices to clear snow off their cars on the lot. Most of them use a type of foam (similar to a squeegee but a little bigger) on a broom pole. If you got one of those you could easily get a collapsible pole at Home Depot etc. and then store it behind your seat. That is what I plan on doing. In fact, we are getting our first real snowfall today and it could be up to a foot on the ground by later tonight.
I use the telescoping rubber/silicon 'scrapper' discussed above and a metal telescoping ladder...both stow nicely in my Access cab Tundra....snow on top when top is up is the issue and dropping it to scrape with a load is a non-starter for me...could tweak the roof or me! Depending on how wet/heavy the snow is I usually scrape when load exceeds 6"....even if at night....tarps will not fit my needs with solar panels and the issues of placing and then dragging off with a load....my Hawk/Tundra are stored in my shop, but when skiing snow removal is just the cost of doing business....Are y'all removing the snow with the top popped up? If so are you using a ladder to get high enough? My truck is lifted and with the top popped, is pretty tall. I would probably need to lean a ladder against the popped top.
I saw someone else recommended placing a tarp on the roof before it starts snowing. They said makes for much easier snow removal.
