They've only been talking about it for 12 years now... Wish they would put up or shut up.
Edit: I take that back, it's actually 18 years of teasing me.
The 07 and the 19 concepts. I like the 2019 so much!

Toyota probably took the short lived Nissan Titan HD as a bad omen.
That's fair, I think the 5.0 Cummins flopped because of DPF issues. If Toyota did it with a diesel (ya, I know that won't be a thing) they could absolutely dominate the market. I guess that 5.0 was originally made for Toyota but they decided not to roll with it.

It would definitely be cool to get a heavy-duty Toyota with matching high payload. Folks obviously run campers and max out the GVWR on their Tundras (and have been doing so for years, etc. etc.), but it's always been disappointing to me that the max payload in a Tundra is less than that of a (modern) Ford Ranger or an overseas Hilux. Like many people, I'd buy a modern diesel Hilux all day - reliability, good gas mileage, high payload - that's the dream trifecta. I'll definitely keep an eye out for this HD model, sounds like it could be interesting.

Toyota won't sell me a HD truck but Ford will sell me a long travel trophy truck with over a ton of payload.
My family would disown me if I rolled up on Christmas in a Ford. 😆

I've always thought that a 1 Ton truck w/ a smaller diesel would be awesome. Even my EcoDiesel (when I had it) was plenty powerful enough but the payload was relatively small.

A lifetime of midsize prerunners and 2wd half tons has me feeling some kinda way. Now I just want a BFT. Yes it's actually called the BFT and yes it does stand for Big Ford Truck.

If only I had known how easy it is to run out of payload. I don't tow anything unless it's stuck in my way so the half ton is pretty useless for me.
