In about 2 hours, it will be the Summer Solstice, but it sure doesn’t feel like summer. Our high today was 51° and we have had a nice rain shower, with more coming over the next two days. My guess is there’s fresh snow in the high country of the Blue and Wallowa Mountains.

I hope everyone has a wonderful summer, with plenty of wanders and walkabouts.

Solstice here in a few minutes, so Mother Nature is celebrating with a little show.

Our high was 81° with winds up to 51 mph and increasing clouds. The high came just before 1400 hrs and by 1700 hrs it was down to 61°. Forecasted high today is 61° with rain showers and snow above 6,400'. A couple days ago I sent out a Wx alert to the Ski's and Rubberlegs; they should be hunkering down in their little mountain dell alcoves. Or racing off for Death Valley ... :)

Happy summer.Yes CPT the winds in the central coast area
are getting old,at least the high gusts.
But it beats triple digits like elsewhere.
Time sure fly's 6 months today we were in Oslo Norway and it
was the first day of winter snow and cold but fun.

Ready for a break for sure! Sitting right on the coast here in Davenport, we are not able to use our front door. If we open it, the wind will blow it out of our hands and right off the hinges. Now everyone must use the rear entrance along with the hippies and the banjo players.

I took this shot at the north end of Winnemucca at a friend's house at 1100 this morning. If you look closely you can see the ground on 6,742' high Winnemucca Mountain whitening. There was also snowflakes mixing with the rain where I was standing when I took this photo. The temperature rose to 52° at 1000, then dropped to 40°. It's been in the 40s since.

The black on the hillside is where the mountain burned last week in a 2,300 acre wildfire that started after sundown, human caused. My friend, along with others in the neighborhood, were evacuated as the fire went in all directions at once, closing US95 for a few hours.
