Whats the best way to place the sliding window boot on a 4 Wheel? Anyone? Just wondering...

window boot

I would think that FWC has some for sale. I haven't checked their site in awhile to see though. I know the old ones that we used to use fit between the camper and the truck and used to wear paint off the truck. We switched at some point to a boot that fit in the opening of the windows creating a tube type effect on them. This didn't touch any painted surface.

The tube type ones I know you can find at camping world. They actually squeeze in the window opening on the inside of it.

Thanks Ben, I was wondering whether it was easiest to put it on when your putting on the camper or after the camper is on, etc....I have one of the older black ones. It seems some of the black finish on the boot may also wear off. I was wondering what that was and just figured it out while reading your post. Thanks again.

boot

Erod,

The old black ones we would usually put on with the camper. We would put the camper on the truck and leave it far enough back to put the boot into position between the truck and camper and then push the camper up the rest of the way.

Over time, dust and dirt works its way between that type of boot and wears on the boot and the paint on the truck and camper. That is why we quit buying those and went with the tube type instead.
