The Gospel Hump

The Gospel Hump is one of the smaller wilderness areas local to us. We've wanted to get out there for a while but it has seemed to be on fire the last couple of summers. We had a window to get out and explore in early September (yes, I'm catching up..) and we headed out.

Yes, beautiful and not crowded, a great combination.

It's about 25 miles from us, and still takes us about 2 hours to get there. You have the added complication of that huge canyon between here and there.

Nice! We made the attempt to hit the Hump after a few days camping on the South Fork of the Clearwater. June 28th, seems we were still just a tad early!

Yes we are typically in that area in June to cut wood and there are still drifts in shady spots a couple thousand feet lower elevation. September was a pretty nice time, and no mosquitoes.
