This is really screwy but....I just realized that the original sheet metal screws that held the small wall cabinet in my 2012 Hawk shell do not bite correctly when reinstalled !

I was putting the wall cabinet back up (removed by P.O.) and find that careful hand tightening just barely works without them stripping the hole.....as a stop gap I have bedded them in 4300 fast cure.

I am sure someone has figured this out...can you securely use the next size larger thread to hold cabinets and etc. to the aluminum studding ?

Glad to hear how others have secured cabinets etc especially for rough travel.

Yes, the next size up screw will work. Probably a #10. I like to use threaded nut-serts with machine screws though.

I have used nut_serts on other applications, usually with thicker stud wall thickness than our campers....Is there a nut-sert made for the thin wall stock ?

The two haves of the nut-sert need to pull together enough to swell fit into the drilled hole.....I don't understand how they work for FWC studs???

What I am talking about is kinda like a pop rivet with threads and installs with a pop rivet like tool. I think the proper name is a rivet nut. They even make them with studs. Search Mcmaster-Carr with "rivet nut". The rivet nut has a flange on the outside and the tool swells the inside to grip the thin wall stud between the two.

You may want to consider drilling the holes out with a 3/16" bit, then adding some small plastics anchors for holding power.

Just my .02 of course.
