Transfering camper at the time of sale without jacks...

We have never removed our camper since FWC installed it, and the turnbuckles at the factory. We have the jack brackets, but do not own actual jacks.

We are looking to sell our camper, and I am wondering how one would go about transferring the camper to a different truck without camper jacks?

Also, just because I'm curious, how does someone prepare their truck with turnbuckles for a FWC??

I'm wondering if this is something that a FWC dealer does? We are now on the East Coast...

I would be interested in hearing other's experiences... (or links to prior conversations... I try to search..)
 
Regarding prepping the truck with turnbuckles for a FWC, you can go to FWC's website and there is at least one video showing how to measure for the turnbuckles. I am sure you can also call them and get instructions if needed in addition to purchasing what is needed for the truck.

You will either need the jacks, or you might possibly be able to borrow a set from somebody close to you, or possibly a dealer close by. I bought the jacks with my camper but took them off as my camper stays on my truck full time. I live in Wyoming and would let you borrow them but you said you were on the east coast.

If you let the group know where you are located, there might be someone close by you that has jacks they would be willing to lend you to do the transfer.

In my opinion, you might find meeting the buyer at an east coast dealer the easiest option for both you and the buyer. If the buyer is experienced, it’s certainly possible to do at a more convenient place. I suspect they may want to own a set of jacks, so could have them in advance of the swap.

Check the FWC website, I think they may have some information on where to locate the eyebolts for the camper type and truck.

Thank you so much for the kind offer! But yes, probably to far. But it is good to know that when the time comes that we (and the potential buyer) can put the word out, and we might get lucky.

Also thanks for the info re. video about turnbuckles/installation. I will take a look.

Thank you for your response. Given your experience, you have confirmed my hunch that there are no shortcuts that to this (something, something, pallet jack or something).

I guess it then becomes something that depends upon the potential buyer, and what they prefer.

We'll see when the time comes.

(BTW I think we bumped into you on our first trip years and years ago in the huge NP campsite just outside Death Valley... (2017 Superbloom?)??? I was happy to see you still wandering).

Keep in mind that, depending on the truck and camper, you may also need extension plates to place the front jacks further out from the side of the truck. They are the gray piece in the picture below. I need them for my GM 3500 HD with a Grandby due to the body having some flare for the fenders. Dealers may have them or you can make them from plate steel or plate aluminum.
