Truck bed security

We usually do all our long distance camping in our Toyota/4WC combo, but have a few trips planned in the old Chevy this summer. One problem I always have is securing all my camping equipment in the back of the truck while on the road. I’m constantly worried that when I come back to the parking lot after a truck stop lunch, all my stuff will be gone. I’m envisioning some kind of steel cargo net that I could lock to the lumber rack side rails, but am open to any and all suggestions.

Lots of cleaver folks on this forum, so I’m curious what you all come up with.

Thanks
Tom

Before we got the Hawk we put a locking tonneau cover over the bed and also kept all our gear in tough cases with steel braided cables and padlocks on each case/cable. Cumbersome, but nothing ever disappeared.

Nets are cool but they leave you exposed, maybe a "cargo bag" is a better option. It appears like it could be secured to the truck with all your stuff inside it.

When in that situation I would always leave room for a cozy spot for my dog in the back of the truck. Ole Mic was a fierce, loyal and effective deterrent.

Thanks all for taking the time to respond. While none was exactly what I was looking for, you all came up with some good out of the box suggestions that are steering me in different directions, so much appreciated.
