Using velcro for headliner replacement?

I'm in the process of replacing my headliner and trying to think of alternatives to the batting they use to hold up the headliner. I was thinking Velcro might be a great way to hold it up. You could get the headliner nice and tight too.

The issue might be if you can get the Velcro to attach to the headliner and not see any "bleed" through with adhesives that might be used. You could sew it one but I'm not sure how that'd look if the sew lines weren't straight or if the headliner snagged at all.

I thought about using some type of snaps too but I think they might be to "tall" or rub and the placement of them is much more critical.

Any other ideas or thoughts?

Thanks.

If you find a thin sheet of paneling and rip it into 1" strips then use some 3/4" screws with a rounded head they can be installed easily and it will hold your headliner up just fine.
