We are planning a brief detour into Death Valley from Big Pine to see Eureka Dunes, probably camping there Monday night. Can anyone report on the present road conditions with respect to washboards. If not too bad, I'll bring the bicycles for the remainder of the trip, but with the extended hitch mount bike rack, I'd leave them at home if the road is really bumpy. We'll be in other parts of the Eastern Sierra including Taboose Creek for fishing, skiing, biking?, and other fun stuff.
Thanks

We exited from Eureka Dunes after a chilly night at the somewhat barren campground. I don't recall much in the way of washboards. There is a cool yucca forest before you drop into Eureka Valley that I wish I had explored. Climbing the dunes is also very worthwhile. I posted some photos from our mini DV Rally that you might enjoy. Have a great trip!
