Washing clothes

This looks completely unnecessary…. So why do I think it looks good? I swear there is a new gizmo out daily. Hand washing works for me… but I bet they make $$$ on it in the Nomad crowd..

I have a skin condition related to military service, and plunging elbows-deep into soapy water to wash clothes by hand isn't a good option for me. I always thought a modified exercise bike would be a wonderful thing that would serve many purposes (clothes washing, generating electricity, etc) if you have the space for it. That gizmo's a lot smaller, but it seems odd that it uses USB for power instead of 12 volts from a battery.

I guess if one is out for a few months… for clothes but dishes ? Two plates and a pan would take as long as setting the gizmo up. But for clothes … might be a maybe.

Where will you get/store all the water needed?
I guess there are campers out there who would
use this but where is the line between camping
and staying home drawn?
Oh well to each their own.It's still a free country (I think)

I think you are right Frank …just more stuff cluttering up the camper… maybe if you had a remote cabin ……nah …. On second thought…. Not for me either… them slick ads get me every now and then.

5 gal. bucket and a toilet bowl plunger with a few holes drilled to allow soapy water to rush thru. Read about this and plan to try it next long trip. Already carry the bucket and the plunger can go between truck bed and camper walls.

On our longer trips we have used an eight gallon olive container with tight fitting lid strapped to the rear bumper.

200 miles wash, 300 miles rinse cycle....followed by solar drying device.

I carry a couple of Tide pods in case I have to do laundry. I come in for groceries every 2-3 weeks anyway and there is usually a laundromat around. I have one of those toilet plunger washing things but haven't ever used it.

For dishes 'da beagle is so good at prewash that I only have to disinfect and dry; unfortunately he doesn't do laundry.

Interesting. At times (when I can get water from a lake, stream, or even a clean cow trough) I've washed clothes in a 5-gal bucket with lid, shaking it around by hand then wringing the clothes. HARD work. Other times I've just swished/rubbed clothes around, without soap, in said water source. Works so-so. Saves an annoying visit to Mr. Lon D. Mat.

Takes up very little space, you need some excess water and a safe place to get rid of soapy water.
