Wire Size and Solar

Which parts grabbed your attention the most? I noticed the 100'... so if you have remote panels, losses are a big deal. Inside our campers, runs are 15'-20', so less of a concern.

100' is quite a bit more than most of us have. Not sure exactly what my run is but its probably not more than 20'.

Honestly that’s a really crappy video, he does theoretical losses of the perfect conditions in the calculation which is completely unrealistic to his conditions (lower amps in reality) and then doesn’t bother to circle back around to validate the accuracy of the calc using his actual volt/amps. Each test had notably different power being produced at the panels and yet he tried to compare the losses to each other. The 8awg wire had ~60% the power involved compared to the 12ga which is also a big factor in addition to the wire size.

Sure the takeaway if you were unaware is use the calculators for sizing to your conditions is useful but they rest wasn’t well done at all.
