i posted this in the camping forum but this is such a great tool i figured i should post it here as well.
go to JDMCOX Software and download a copy of USA Photomaps.
it is FREE to download. legal too!
with it, you have access to all usa topo maps as well as satellite photography.
it is easy to use...just read the help!
and best of all...it can all be used stand-alone ie.e without a live Internet connection once you have all the maps downloaded.
i keep this on a beater laptop.
it does routes...works with most GPS units....
