You know you're a geezer when.......................

Yep the old "if the boot fits, buy two pair" logic is about gone. Now I just rotate the several pair of boots I have and see what will wear out first. Although my old Lowa's are going strong

I’m old enough to remember the Asolo XC boots that came with a 3 pin toe and sole that would break just behind the pin sockets.

Fondly referred to as Kenko Crackers by our ski crowd. Kenko was the importer as I recall.
Ah yes. Went through four pairs of those one winter. Finally talked Asolo into having Dave Page Cobbler resole them with sewn on and no plate soles. Those lasted for years till my feet changed shape and no longer fit.

Ah, memories of the not so good old days. How 'bout the Asolo Snowpine 3 pin boots (our obvious namesake) from back in the days of riding the cow, that all our companions called the "blisterpines."
Ah, more geezerly memories. I believe I had a pair (after the Snowfields) for the lengthy time of one outing. The tongues had a stiff curl that would not flatten out, and consequently wore a painful groove into the front of the ankle and lower leg.

They were returned to the retailer with a note stating the product was not fit for the purpose for which it was intended.

The representative was an acquaintance. Dale, if your listening, I still haven’t forgotten.

The only name brand in all this shoe talk that I recall is Lowa, and I haven't heard that name in four decades. Probably well above my pay grade as an underpaid county worker back then. Below is me in the foreground in my usual hiking/backpacking attire. Nowhere near as trendy as my buddy Max. But I still had a lot of fun. Because I lived there and he didn't ...

I have had and used these hiking boots with the GoodYear Vibram soles for over 55 years. Don't remember the brand but they came with a lifetime warranty,If you wore out the soles before the
upper they would replace them.

I mostly use them now while out in the back 40 weed whacking.
My go to boots are Keens and have been for well over 20 years.
I have tried many other brands but the Keens work well for me.
