I placed my order today, (with the Mrs. on board), for a Grandby Shell. I will order on Monday a 2018 Ford F150 4x4 8’ bed 18” wheels with the heavy duty pkg. This puts my payload at 2700 lb. Max trailer as well. I plan on towing a smoker to BBQ competitions in between adventures & fishing. My order is below:

Yakima tracks only
8’ Side Awning
Extra vent w/fan ... I will probably install another fan later. I will DIY this fan to variable speed.
Flush mount stove
Aluminum jack brackets
Rear Flood lights
Rollover Couch ... I liked the size & seating comfort. Table needs to be addressed.
King Bed slideout
Thermal Pack
2nd Battery ... I had issue with this but it gives me capacity until probably going with a LiFePO4.
The 2017 Shell came standard with Furnace, Camper Battery system, Roof lift assists, Solar wiring.

I plan to keep things roomy & light. Planned added buildout items ... pullout drawers to the storage compartments under the Couch seating, ARB 12V or similar fridge, shallow-er cabinets to maintain larger aisle space, small water tank & basin w/hand pump faucet, pvc turnbuckle drainage, flexible solar up & down w/Victron monitor controller, swing arm table. A good buddy may fabricate aluminum cabinet & drawer boxes. May replace or add windows. Plan to visit & take picture of frame to facilitate build before completion. I am lucky to have friends with skills. I can not wait!

I would like to especially thank Bill Harr, Ski3pin, & others, for informative, patient replies to my messages.

Looking forward to your build out. Like the idea of cabinet not being so deep. May make it feel a lot bigger inside.

Strokeme,  Congrats and welcome to the club.    I ordered in January 2017 and waited until Mid May.  The wait is long but it gave me time to purchase some other goodies for it.   It really went fast.    What truck did you order?

Waffled many times between 1/2 & 3/4 ton. Actually stated a firm order, for both, here on various threads. Ended up convincing my wife that we were better off going light everywhere. I ordered a f150 fx4, super-cab, heavy duty pkg truck. I am going to attempt to build light, & pack light, specific to the chosen adventure. We’ll be touring the USA some. Did not really want to do that in a 3/4 ton truck. I luckily have a skilled buddy. I am looking into composite or aluminum construction. Going lithium & flexible too. I will have to wait & see final FWC weight & final curb weight of my truck. Will try to document. Amortizing this over 10 years (or more). Now, I need to loose some weight ...
