Once again the annual Antelope Lake trip has come and gone. This is the one we bring everything including the kitchen sink.

Deer in camp were so numerous as to reach pest level.

I did manage to see one bear, a beautiful cinnamon colored beauty on the backside of Wildcat Ridge but after standing up and giving me a good look he took off before I could ready the camera. Gotta think few have bothered to get to the top of the ridge.

This year we got a new trophy for biggest "stream" fish. Nice hand carved trout accompanies the trophy and I decided I'd give it a shot. Got up early and spent the better part of the day fishing Last Chance creek where I caught a nice 15 incher last year. Not this year :(  At the first stream crossing I saw a couple signs guiding the Mormons on their annual trek. I lock the hubs for this crossing and taking an educated guess at the rest of the route its a pretty hard core event.

At Doyle Xing I found Iowa City.

Complete with hand carts.

A portion of Indian Creek between the private land and the dam is a steep steep canyon. You are rewarded with fast water, deep pools and great fishing if you're nuts enough to try it. I haven't fished it in probably twenty years but I did this year. Every hole produced a fish just nothing of any size. It was a rough and dangerous as I'd remembered. Pic doesn't really give you an idea of just how steep it was.

Lots more exploring including the backside of Kettle Rock (may the lookout RIP) where I saw momma and her cubs before. At least a dozen poles probably 20' tall with what looked like ordinary junction boxes with stubby antennas on top were scattered around and I have no idea what those are for. FS has been doing some work back there.

Well now I'm going to have to get in shape for next year and try Red Clover creek. Its an even steeper and deeper hike in that Indian Creek.

We were wondering when the annual Antelope Lake camping trip was. Now we know. :)

Thanks for letting us share in the fun!

Looks like a great trip. Certainly easier than the handcart expedition. I’ve never seen a cinnamon bear in the wild, I’m jealous! Thanks for sharing!
