I unsuccessfully tried to clean the stains and black mold from the old "fuzzy" interior in my 1984 Keystone (no longer own it). I used several different consumer cleaning products along with a soft nylon bristle brush to no avail.   I was successful in scrubbing away some of the fuzzy surface but never got the stains out.  Also I found that the pop-up material on that camper was getting brittle and it was clearly at the end of its life.

 

I was prepared to replace the over cab floor and rebuild the badly worn cabinets but the hassle (or cost) of rebuilding the end panels and the cost to replace the pop-up material finally pushed me to decide to seek out a newer used camper.   Also the refrigerator was on its last legs and I thought the old 1110/12v power converter needed replacement too. I figured I would have to put between $3,000 and $5,000 into the camper to bring it up to usable condition so I started looking for a newer used camper.

 

We miss the floor width of the old Keystone but we like the condition, larger (Queen size) over cab bed and newer features of our 2007 Keystone (e.g. pressurized hot water, outside shower, Norcold fridge, roll over couch and Yakima racks) which we bought from the original owner in 2014 at about 1/2 the original cost.

 

Sorry I cannot give you advice for successfully cleaning the stains off.

I like the newer vinyl fabric better than that older stuff and I would recommend giving serious thought to buying a replacement (or making it yourself if you have the inclination, skills and time).

Got a couple more things done. The little cover inside the closet needed trimming after narrowing the floor.

I also managed to finish my front emts lifting panel. Everything g li ed up great and I absolutely love them.

They even fit with the bed cushions in place, which o wasn't sure about.

The spores from that Black mold are not good for your lungs.  I recommend you figure out how to get trid of it before spending serious time in there without a quality facemask on.

I have tried a product called mold blaster that seems to work OK.  I used it on a spot of black mold according to instructions.  Then reapplied.  It seems to have done the trick.  It works at least as well as adding a cap of clorox to a gallon of water and I think it is easier on the fabric as well.
 

Progress is looking good so far.

Yeah good call. I'll be going out this weekend so I am gonna go clean it tonight. I have mainly been just working on the camper and haven't had much of a chance to really use it. I am finally at the point where I will be able to use the camper for it's intended purpose.

I did my best cleaning g the stains off of the canvas on the front and rear of the camper. It looks heaps better but there is still some staining that I just can't get out. I also replaced the junky door latch on the closet. Nothing really picture worthy. I was able to take the camper out last weekend, took my family out for some ice fishing. We is the camper as a place for the kids to warm up and make lunch. It was a good time. I think we are gonna go ice fishing again this weekend. If we do I'll make sure to take some good pictures and post up.

Just looking at your thread to see what the original interior of my 86 Keystone might have looked like. Curious if you have continued your build.
