I've got a 2000 Tacoma SR5 completely unmodified except I added a trailer hitch. I got an old pop-up camper (about 1200 pounds) for cheap and want to go camping with it on my Tacoma. The guy who sold me the camper said I need to add lift springs. So, two questions:

1. Do I need to add a lift springs on the back and the front? Or just the back?
2. Does anyone have any recommendations as to brand and/or retailers

Typically, people either add air bags (Firestone or Airlift), or they have beefier aftermarket springs installed. The springs will be great when the camper is on, but the truck will ride rough when the camper is off. The other thing that people do is to upgrade tires because of the additional weight.

And... Welcome to Wander the West! Please post some photos when you get a chance.

Edit: suspension upgrades usually just to the rear axle.

1200# on 1st gen...you're going to have to modify the suspension. Springs for sure probably bags or helpers too....that's alot of weight not counting people and supplies....
