At the risk of being beaten by the admins, I thought I would start another photography thread, this time on landscape.

Great photos guys. One of my main goals after I get my FWC is to do more landscape photography. Head to Utah a lot and meet my friend for that now. He tries to spoil me with his new 5th wheel but I'm not buying into it. Come on retirement!

I don't want to derail the thread but what lens are some of you using for landscapes?  The first couple I was using a 18-55 kit lens.  The last couple are with a 17-40 f4 L and to be honest, I don't think it does that great of a job.  Nothing like the 70-200.  Is there a lens that take photo's like 70-200?  or is a lens that capable out of reach pricewise...

I use everything from the Nikkor Holy Trinity (less one, it's a Tokina 16-28/2.8) to even the 500/4 at times.   Most of the work is done with the 16-28, a 24-70/2.8, a 70-200/2.8, and a 24mm tilt shift.  The tilt shift is by far the sharpest and most versatile (and frustrating).

One thing not mentioned is support.  I am a big fan of very sturdy tripods and ball heads.
