Hay Street Cafe may be closing, but according to Yelp the best restaurant in america is just down the road in Big Pine.  It's not like I need an excuse to head that way, but a road trip that way just got me adjusting my timing.....

Hmmm... I usually think of Big Pine as "that town just south of where I head east to Westguard Pass", and where I stop to fuel the truck if I forgot to in Bishop.

Maybe I should stop there for fuel for me next time....savory, spicy, greasy fuel!  :)

From my trip Blog in 2013
Kyrazy on Wander the West told me if we are driving up 395 a stop at the Copper Top Bar-B-Q in Big Pine is a must. He was right, only open 4 months ran by a father and son. Good stuff.

We've tried Coppertop a couple of times, a very worthy stop.

I'm still full from Mountain View BBQ in Walker when I get to Big Pine. :)

Someday we'll give this a try.

It's pretty good, but if you're from South Carolina you probably won't be impressed. But by west coast standards,,, well, you tell me.

How good could it be if it isn't from east of Rocky Mount, NC? ;)
