Yeah, my idea is clearly a case of drinking beer while having an imagination!
I figured not blocking refrigerator vents would stop the project, but then realized offset spacers could give a couple inches of space and still provide solid 3 point attachment to the frame.
Somebody on Ebay is selling them made out of PVC, which might be more practical: https://www.google.c...chrome&ie=UTF-8
3/4" PVC sheets are available to us mortals: https://www.google.c...chrome&ie=UTF-8
3/4" PVC is available for DIY'ers in assorted colors. I think grey would be a practical start (PVC doesn't age in sunlight & grey might fade gracefully; who wants to maintain paint?). Spacers made from 2 strips of PVC glued together would hold it 1.5 inches away from the vents. Done in pieces on the top edge to allow air movement. A 1" spade bit drilling polka dots would also help.
Minimize the amount it sticks out the back to 6 or 8 inches, for less collateral damage from crosswinds on I-80.
Another crazy idea... Using industrial strength velcro to attach things without drilling into the wall: https://smile.amazon...way&sr=8-4&th=1
Then there's the issue of civic responsibility if/when the wing falls off... Perhaps an unsightly safety cord going down to the jack bracket? Or who cares? "What me worry?"--Alfred E. Neuman
I'm hammered by home projects for now, hoping somebody actually smart takes the torch & posts pictures.
