I have to be in the Yachats area on Saturday and then in Bend on Monday. Anything of note on the way? I’m essentially looking for good dispersed camping for Saturday night with a view, a hike, etc. PM me if you don’t want to discuss in public. Thanks!

Very cool and beautiful place, but no camping. I’m looking for something on the way to Bend/Sisters or even most of the way there, where I can spend the night.

Try Lost Lake it’s about 10 miles west of Santiago Santiam Summit, north side of the road. A small FS campground.. Take 22 out of Salem, it becomes 20. The CG is on 20.

Perfect! I was sniffing that on Caltopo, but it's always nice to have some affirmation. Thanks!
EDIT: it's not officially open yet, and apparently they got snow again and made it muddy. Still on the hunt.

Bug spray! It’s that time of year.
Another spot is the snow park on the way to Big Lake, it off the Hoodoo ski area road.

We don’t have bugs in Oregon. Ha!
True! Only mini Predators.

Another thought, take hwy 58 out of Eugene, then if open, take the Cascade Lakes highway. Lots of FS CGs all through there. Hosmer Lake used to be my favorite, but the geezer (like me) canoe and fly rod set has been somewhat replaced by young families with stubby kayaks and SUPs.
But… I used to be the guy with the young family at Hosmer.

Love Cascade Lakes Highway!
I'm tempted to just stay at the coast and drive Sunday. I don't have to be in Bend until Monday AM.
