[Yukon]

I noticed questions about awnings. When my wife & I explored the artic for a year in our Landrover rig (see photo), I built a rain awning/bug net combo for less than $40. Took a piece of waterproof nylon and put grommets all around the 4 sides. Then, got a 6 foot piece of PVC pipe and capped one end tight, and one end that would come off. Attached pipe to top of vehicle. The awning tied to the PVC pipe, and then when not in use, I rolled the nylon and support pipes up, and put them inside the black PVC pipe.

I plan to attach this to my new Eagle soon (am building a brand new shell into custom unit). Then, made two silver support poles using electrical pipe. You can see in photo that poles hold it up on angle with rope to ground stakes. In photo it is sagging cause we got snowed on (in August no less). What's missing from this photo is the bug net. I bought bug netting and sewed it into a cube shape. Then, when I needed it, I tied it to the awning using those grommets. Only needed it a few times in the Yukon. This was easy to do, inexpensive, and stood up to things like SNOW. Happy trails.
